A single tooth is made up of a soft part inside (pulp) and a hard part outside (enamel, dentin). The nerve and blood vessels that keep the tooth alive are located in the pulp. Decomposition, infection, trauma, wear, and tear all have an impact on the soft component. Depending on how much dental structure is still present, we may be able to preserve the tooth by performing a root canal. The pulp that has become infected and inflammatory must be removed from the root canals during the root canal procedure. The process includes numbing the tooth, using specialized files to remove the damaged pulp from the root canal, cleaning, and filling with filling material. The filling material fills the empty space and prevents infection or contamination of the canals. An artificial dental crown (cap) is built and affixed to the treated tooth after the treatment to protect it from breaking. In certain instances, a pillar is built over the canal and a crown is placed on top of it for added stability.
